NEW YORK — Some notable February events that took place around Holy Name Province:

One Year Ago
Feb. 10, 2009 — A radio interview titled “Friars Looking for a Few Good Men” and featuring vocation director Brian Smail, OFM, aired on National Public Radio’s Marketplace. NPR contacted Holy Name Province after hearing about its New York City subway advertising campaign (shown, right).

Two Years Ago
Feb. 4-11, 2008 — Eight members of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Hartford, Conn., traveled to Haiti with Michael Jones, OFM, to serve and help at their sister parish, St. Genevieve in Zoranje. (The parish is currently holding a variety of fundraisers to help the people of Haiti, especially parishioners of St. Genevieve.)

Feb. 2, 2000 — HNP’s novitiate class began a two-month cultural and language program at the friary in Cochambamba, Bolivia. It was the first class to take part in such a program.
