Appeal Letter
There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing a disadvantaged child jump for joy when he receives a special Christmas present. For the child, it isn't just about having a toy to play with. It's the feeling that he is valued and loved; that he is just as precious as any of God's children.
St. Anthony's Guild is making dreams come true for children in need on Christmas and throughout the year.
As Christians we are not only givers; we are also receivers on this special day. We are eager to receive the magnificent gift that God has given us - His Son, our Savior and Redeemer.
Today God continues to reveal Himself in the most humble places, though He is not always recognized. That is where the Franciscans and St. Anthony's Guild come in!
Our friars continue the tradition of St. Francis and St. Anthony, by practicing humility and seeing ourselves as one with those we serve. We seek and share Christ with friends and neighbors including those who are forgotten or shunned by society.
This is an especially important goal during the holiday season, when warmth and kindness mean so much to those suffering with poverty and homelessness, loneliness, illness or other hardship.
Although winter can be a difficult season for those who have fallen on hard times, your Guild support helps immensely. It shows them that they are indeed loved and valued, and that the joy of Christmas is meant for everyone.
Your kindness is especially life changing for the little ones we serve at our parishes, soup kitchens, mentoring programs, Anthony Houses and other ministries. Together we are creating
Memories of joy that these children will never forget.
During this sacred time, we will be praying for Guild members throughout our Christmas Novena. Please be sure to list your Special Intentions for remembrance on back of the enclosed reply form.
As you share your generosity with friends and family this Christmas, please consider offering a generous gift for Franciscan vocations and for the many men, women and children whom we serve every day. Guild members like you have the ability to make the Prince of Peace known in our world!
