Mission Statement

The Franciscan Missionary Union of Holy Name Province has as its purpose the support and promotion of the Franciscan Missions in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, East Africa, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam. This evangelization to the world includes promoting not only the religious life, but the human and social development of the people our missionaries serve.

St. Francis was the first founder of a religious community to include a provision for sending his brothers on mission in the Rule of Life that he gave to his community. For nearly 800 years the Franciscan friars have sought to bring the Good News to those who have not heard it and to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized of the world.
